Tom Carment Moonrise, Koroop

oil on linen

40.3 x 50.7 cm

Koroop lies about 12 kilometres south of the Murray River in Victoria, and consists of just a white-painted community hall above a creek. The nearest house was occupied by my friends Wayde and Michelle. They had come to help their daughter run a buffalo dairy farm; to mix silage and look after grandchildren. One evening I watched a big full moon come up over their house and made some drawings. A year later, back in Adelaide, I completed this painting. By then, my friends and their daughter had had to leave the farm. I sent them a postcard of my picture and they have it on their fridge in Parkes, NSW.
