John Olsen The lake recedes
Look at this bird’s-eye view of a lake painted by John Olsen.
Kati Thanda–Lake Eyre in South Australia is usually a dry salt pan, but after wet weather it can fill with water and become an oasis for birds, fish and other animals. The lake is known for having a pink colour due to the algae that grows in the water. Look at the expressive lines and marks Olsen has used to paint the salty edge of the lake.
How do you think Olsen moved his brushes to create this artwork?
