David Payne Encounter
I’ve always been intrigued with how different people react to their first encounter with a stranger. The works portray this encounter by shooting environmental portraits of strangers or people I haven’t spoken to in years by stopping them in the streets while I set up my camera and lighting, and than spending an intimate 15 minutes to photograph them. It enables the audience to learn about their own personal encounter with the strangers within the photographs. This interaction of the strangers can be seen as an art form, while the photographs are a documentation of this interaction.
