Yee Amy Hung The dance of flare

On New Year’s Eve 2004 I received a mobile text message that said, ‘Even though the fireworks are pretty, we shine more than them.’ As I started to experience and learn more about life during Year 12, I realised that, although we may shine more than fireworks at one time, many things are as short-lived as fireworks and the background darkness always remains. Youth, joy, love, hatred, desire, conflict and destiny – examples of life’s complexity that I have tried to convey in my artwork.
